Home away from Home, Hindmarsh Valley, South Australia
A quick recap on the chosen site for the building.
Concept Design Option 1
Inspired by separating the living & sleeping spaces with a central covered outdoor space to maintain a strong sense of camping on the site.
The roof form is designed for ease of construction and incredibly simple roof maintenance to provide great comfort when leaving the site vacant for extended periods.
Concept Design Option 2
Inspired by a strong building spine of rammed earth that grounds and protects the building from prevailing weather.
Incredibly economic use of space for both the living and sleeping spaces, along with locating circulation spaces outside of the building fabric allow the house to stretch up the site providing all rooms with views to the Bluff and the revegetated parts of the site.
